Crew Service Promise 2019

Crew Service Promise 2019

At Canyons, our first company core value is WOW. For us, this means creating WOW experiences for all of our customers (and ourselves!) through our outdoor adventures. Recently, we got all of the Crew together for a full day to talk about what our priorities for this summer season are, and especially to decide what specifically we want to focus on in terms of service to create those WOW experiences.

Canyoning - Pushing Internal Limits by Making Connections

Canyoning - Pushing Internal Limits by Making Connections

I'm new to Canyons, having joined as COO just a short six weeks ago. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work in and support the local community of Minakami, where I moved with my family a year and a half ago. What's even more exciting is the opportunity to get to work in the outdoors with Mike and the team of amazing people he's brought together to make Canyons what it is today.  I knew this job would push my limits professionally, but for some reason never thought about how it may push other internal limits as well.

Choosing a canyoning course

Choosing a canyoning course

At Canyons we run a lot of canyoning courses. If you count the half day and full day versions we have over 40 different canyons in Japan!  A lot of these canyons are only offered as "special tours" that we run at certain times of the year.

To make sure we match YOUR preference with our tours we have created a 6 tier canyoning level system for rating our canyons that is based on the French canyoning rating system.  If you are wondering what level course is best for you AND your group then here some extra info to help to decide.

Choosing a canyoning company in Japan

Choosing a canyoning company in Japan

Japan canyoning has come a long way in the last 20 years. (As background read; Pioneering canyoning in Japan) There are now over 150 operators "canyoning" in Japan. (I use term canyoning loosely here as many of the operators (around 95%) that run non-technical VERY basic courses that mostly involve walking up and down shallow river gorges adding a few slides and jumps.)  It is one of the most popular river sports in Japan now over the summer months. In Minakami alone on a busy summer saturday, over 1000 customers may take part in tours offered by the 15+ operators.
