Alpine Lodge is situated in the mountain township of Minakami, Japan's premiere four season adventure resort, packed with hot springs and ski resorts in the North of Gunma Prefecture.
The lodge is primely located in the Yubiso area (valley of the hidden hot springs), which lies in the center of Minakami's 9 ski resorts, and at the entrance to Joshinetsu National Park (Japn's second largest).
Lodge Features:
- Shuttle busses to and from the train stations as well as to and from the ski resorts
- A clean communal kitchen where you can keep supplies and prepare your own private meals (cafe/restaurant also available)

Cedar Bunks (Shared rooms)
Sleep in comfort on these hand made local cedar bunks. In the winter we use down duvets for warmth while a thinner summer duvet is used.

Shared rooms are fitted with spacious cedar bunks. Towels not provided. (rental towels for 200 yen)
All beds have woollen quilts and quality futons to keep you comfortable even on the coldest nights. Each room is also kept warm by an electric convection heater which will not only keep the rooms cozy but also dry all of your wet snow gear.
Payment
Payment for accommodation can be made in cash or by visa card(5% service charge) but it is a good idea to carry cash in small town Japan.

Weekend Warrior Plan
Want to make the most of your weekend? Come up on Friday night and get sorted for being first up the snow or out on the river on Saturday morning. We can pick you up from the bullet train Station at JomoKogen (just 75mins from Tokyo) at 22:15, sort out any rental gear if necessary, and make reccomendations about resort conditions and where to ride.
This is the perfect plan if you want the inside word on where to ride, or you want to sort out your rental gear to save precious time on Saturday morning.
Included: 2 days breakfasts, JomoKogen pick up, ski area shuttles

First Tracks Plan
Want to be one of the first ones up the mountain? Get to JomoKogen Stn. by 8:00 (MInakami 8:20) and we will pick you up and shuttle you to the ski areas. (Depart Tokyo 6:32 ->JomoKogen 7:50)
- Please spcify your preferred station when booking
- If you require rental you will have to organise it at the ski area. (those people wanting the special rental deals are advised to come up on the weekend warrior plan)

Food
Breakfast is included in accommodation and is served from 6:00 - 9:00 daily for lodge guests. Dinner is available at the Alpine Cafe for very reasonable rates. The cafe and bar is open Thurs - Sun for dinner, however you may also book dinner from Monday - Wednesday.

Transfers
We will provide free transport from Minakami Station or JomoKogen (bullet train) to Alpine Lodge and return at set times.
Transfers to Okutone, Houdaigi and Tenjindaira ski areas leave every morning at around 8:30 and a pick up service is provided in the afternoon. (bus services to other ski areas are available)

- Other than the First Tracks Plan there are no drop offs available to the ski areas on the day of arrival. (ski field drop off times below).

By Train:
Take the Takasaki Line from Ueno to Minakami Stn. (about 3 hours) OR
Take the Joetsu Bullet train from either Tokyo or Ueno Stn. to JomoKogen Stn. (about 70 mins)
By Car:
Take the Kanetsu Expresway from Nerma to Minakami IC (about 2 hours)

From the Minakami IC
Turn left after coming off IC. Take next left at traffic lights and follow R291 for around 5kms. At the Oana traffic lights (4th set after turning left after IC) turn right. Follow the road for about 500m, (as you cross the bridge you can see Canyons upstream) take the first left after the bridge, Canyons is 100m on the left.
NOTE: If you enter the Canyons phone number into your car navi it may take you to a location 1.5kms away. Best to use the address.
